**Schedule/Hours:** Varies - Part -Time **This position is responsible for:** **Supervisory Responsibilities (15%)** - Serves as the lead worker to all sorting room workers and community service workers; trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures; answers any questions they may have; informs supervisor of any issues that arise; fills in during any vacancies. **Sorting Room Responsibilities (50%)** - Receives, inspects and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, bric-a-brack, etc. according to the category and condition; selects items suitable for store display and distributes same to appropriate area for further sorting and/or pricing; discards items in accordance with established procedures. - Tags items with specially coded tickets and/or prices in accordance with established procedures; hangs clothes on hangers and places same on clothes racks. - Packs items in boxes and marks boxes accordingly; assists in transporting boxes to appropriate storage area; lifts and carries items to the appropriate destination for further processing, storage or displaying in store. - Prepares non-suitable clothes for the bailer. **Sorting Room Orderliness and Cleanliness Responsibilities (35%)** - Maintains warehouse area in a neat and orderly manner; cleans floors, tables and work areas. - Places and arranges items in the store as directed; checks all store displays to ensure that items are maintained and displayed in a neat and orderly manner; rotates and/or rearranges stock as directed. - Cleans all display racks and shelves; sweeps and mops floors; cleans windows and mirrors; ensures that the store is maintained in a clean and inviting manner. **Other Responsibilities:** - Inspects donated items to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures. - Acts as backup to Truck Driver during any absences or vacancies. - Answers the phone to assist customers by providing general information regarding store policies and the like as needed. - Assists customers in carrying purchased/donated items in/out of the store. - Performs other duties as assigned. **Physical Requirements:** - Ability to meet attendance requirements. - Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively. - Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions. - Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. - Ability to drive a box truck safely and in compliance with laws, policies, and regulations. - Duties are usually performed standing.
