**REPORTS TO:** Diversion Center Superintendent **FLSA STATUS:** Exempt **CLASSIFICATION:** Personnel System. This position requires a 12-month probationary period. **PAY GRADE**: 116 **SAFETY SENSITIVE:** No **Purpose of Job** The purpose of this job is to provide rehabilitative programs and community resources to returning citizens housed in the Department of Corrections. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: working with care and treatment staff to implement unique rehabilitative plans for returning citizens to reduce recidivism; maintain a current network of resources to address housing, financial stability, mental wellness, education, substance counseling, and other varying needs as determined through assessments; maintaining case files; providing counseling and establish clear goals for each returning citizen; and develop and implement a schedule to track the success or recidivism rate of released participants for up to three years. To perform additional tasks as assigned. **Job Related Requirements** May be required to work on religious holidays. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Must work cooperatively with others. When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy. Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, sociology, or a related field with two years of counseling experience required, preferably in a corrections environment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Master's degree preferred. Must complete certification as a Correctional Counselor within twelve (12) months of hire date. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Clinical experience in a corrections, law enforcement, legal or case management setting preferred. Interviews initial intakes to assess offenders and their needs for successful reentry into the community. Conducts office assessment meetings and interviews with offenders and potential (and possibly family members) to identify and address the presence of any risk factors. Monitor's and documents resident's compliance with program and court requirements (including reporting, fine and fee payment, performance of community service, and completion of courses, evaluations, counseling and treatment programs. Prepares and maintains computer database records of returning citizens and monitors their progress through regular phone and email follow-ups. Tracks overall recidivism and efficacy data of program to report to superintendent for a multi-year period. Maintains quantifiable data to evaluate effectiveness of specific programs and make recommendations for future goals. Works with the Care & Treatment staff to assist in arranging the necessary education and counseling applicable to each offender’s case; monitors attendance and compliance closely. Attends Classification Committee meetings and participates in interviews and screenings for programs. Acts as liaison for the program, coordinates programs with outside program providers. Serves as a backup to administrative staff by performing case management functions when necessary. Determines potential problems for a returning citizen’s successful rehabilitation and assists in resolving problems. Presents data, suggestions, and information to Department leadership on occasion and as required. Supports administrative staff and residents to obtain successful release addresses and exit plans, including executing interstate compacts. Verifies that releasing residents have adequate, preapproved travel arrangements upon release. Obtains certification from Georgia Department of Corrections or other agencies to facilitate various classes and programs that contribute to successful re-entry.
