Under general supervision, performs sports official duties in the Parks and Recreation Division. Work involves inspecting playing areas and equipment for safety. Work also involves interaction with volunteer coaches and program participants regularly. Employee is responsible for explaining rules and expectations to volunteer coaches, program participants, and participant’s guardians. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with program participants, employees and volunteers. **YOUTH SOCCER** Officiates games as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor. Interacts with program participants and the general public to present a positive image for the division. Officiates games according to US Soccer rules, except where amended by York County Parks and Recreation’s modified rules. Maintains possession of a rule book. Listens to Field Supervisor's comments concerning officiating techniques and makes adjustments where needed. Explains calls to volunteer coaches, as necessary. Verifies final scores by signing the score sheets at the conclusion of the game, if necessary. Graduation from high school, preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Some sports playing and/or officiating experience is preferred. This job is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment checks to include criminal history and background checks (for 18 years or older).Position is work-as-required, no benefits. Must be at least 16 years of age and be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Must be physically able to operate a variety of recreation equipment. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
