Description of Job: Level 5 Rate Class 7 Must be able to run all grinding equipment and dye check parts for weld defects. Perform touch-up, and blast parts for enamel coating. Prepare parts for fit up using knibbler and bug torch. Read grinding prints. Level 4 Rate Class 9 Must be able to perform Level 5 duties. Read blueprints, operate bandsaw, and assume the duties of lift truck/stacker operator in the parts accessories group. Small parts storeroom helper and minor maintenance repairs. Run spinners to make shafts or furnace press to form parts using proper fixtures. Level 3 Rate Class 11 Must be able to perform Level 4 duties. Run cover trimmer and drill presses. Fit and tack various jobs using layout tools, cutting torches and applicable fixtures. Must pass horizontal and vertical stick welding tests. Work with little supervision. Level 2 Rate Class 13 Must be able to do one of the following: 1. Perform Level 3 duties. Metallize upper ends of shafted pieces. Pass mild steel welding test in mig and heli-arc. or 1. Perform Level 4 duties. Run the lathe for shafted pieces preparations and run either the lathe used for welding ends or the lathe for making ends. or 1. Perform Level 4 duties. Run Linde to produce small parts components. Level 1 Rate Class 14 Must be able to do one of the following. 1. Perform #1 Level 2 duties. Pass alloy welding tests for stick, mig and heli-arc. or 1. Perform #2 Level 2 duties. Run the lathe for shafted pieces preparation, the lathe used for welding ends and the lathe to produce ends. Must maintain machine shop Level 2 certification. or 1. Perform #3 Level 2 duties. Run Linde to produce small parts components and operate the lathe for shafted pieces preparations. All levels of the classification are expected to train others at their level of accomplished skill. All members of this classification may be required to run any equipment in the department, including but not limited to lathes, welding, grinding, or fabricating equipment, either for production or training. All members of the group must be able to consistently maintain housekeeping, safety, and quality standards and follow current standard operating procedures. Testing: Basic Math, radial and circumference, layout & welding questions.
