**Position Title: Shop Tech I** **Department: Maintenance** **Reports to: Maintenance Manager** **FLSA Status: (Non-Exempt)** **Position Purpose:** The purpose of a Shop Technician is to support safe, efficient, and high-quality shop operations by inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and preparing equipment, tools, and materials. The Shop Technician helps ensure equipment is operational, work areas are organized and compliant with safety standards, and projects are completed accurately and on schedule **** **Primary Functions:** The Shop Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, testing, and preparing equipment and tools to support daily operations. This role ensures a safe, organized, and productive work environment while contributing to quality standards, equipment reliability, and overall operational efficiency. Listing is not all-inclusive but a basic overview of tasks. Other duties and tasks may be assigned as needed by Maintenance Tech II (Lead), Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager: - Candidates must be able to stand for a minimum of 12 hours a day, wear safety glasses, steel-toe boots, a hard hat, and earplugs. - At times, the candidate must be able to go into trailers that can be as low as -10 degrees. - Verify that outbound products meet customer packaging and temperature requirements. - Ability to work as part of a team. - Cleaning Plates and blades - Sharpen blades - Maintain the cleanliness of the shop - Assist Maintenance when needed - Managed General Housekeeping - Mechanical Skills required and good with hand tools. - Installation and repair: Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, machinery, and control systems. This includes working on wiring, circuit breakers and lighting fixtures. - Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery to optimize performance. - Assist other Maintenance Techs, Lead, Supervisor or Manager - Capable of sharpening grinder plates, contherm blades and assembling grinder knife sets. **Working Environment:** - Hot, humid environment at times, as well as cold, frigid and wet conditions for up to 12-hour shift. - Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis, including lifting at shoulder level or higher. - Lift and carry up to 100 lbs. on an infrequent basis, including lifting at shoulder level or above. **Hazards:** - Electrical - Anhydrous ammonia **Core Values** It may be an understatement to say that we work every day to uphold our company’s core values.
