As an NCDOT CEI Technician, you will be assigned to one or more active construction sites and be responsible for verifying the quality and compliance of project activities in accordance with North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) standards and specifications. You will have the opportunity to advance your skillset through on-the-job training as well as attendance at certification classes. ## Initial Project The initial project will involve the inspection of upgrades to the passenger ferry dock facilities at both Ocracoke and Hatteras terminals. **For this assignment, housing on Ocracoke will be provided by Goins Sweitzer** and inspector will be expected to stay on the island while work is occurring. Additionally, inspector will be responsible for assisting with inspection of a separate bridge replacement project also on Ocracoke. **These projects are anticipated to start in October 2026 and end in late Spring 2027**. At the conclusion of these assignments other work in and around the Elizabeth City area may be available for the inspector to transfer to or other locations within NC based on preference of inspector/home location. Key Responsibilities Duties will include but may not be limited to: 1. Construction Inspection: 1. Conduct on-site inspections of construction activities, including roadways, bridges, utilities, erosion control, and other infrastructure components, to verify compliance with construction drawings and NCDOT standards and specifications. 2. Identify and report any discrepancies, defects, or non-compliance issues. 2. Documentation and Reporting: 1. Utilizing a company-provided iPad, maintain detailed daily records of construction activities on NCDOT SharePoint Site utilizing the SharePlus App. 2. Generate clear and concise inspection reports and other pertinent documentation, including test reports, material received reports, and pay estimates. 3. Maintain detailed records of onsite activities to aid in the development of as-built plans. 3. Quality Assurance: 1. Perform materials testing on soil, asphalt, and concrete. 2. Collaborate with NCDOT staff, contractors, and other project stakeholders to address and resolve issues promptly. 4. Safety Compliance: 1. Monitor and enforce safety protocols and best practices on construction sites. 2. Report safety hazards and assist in the resolution of safety concerns. 5. Communication: 1. Communicate clearly and effectively with project stakeholders, including NCDOT representatives, contractors, and project team members. 2.
