ABOUT THE TEAM Within Information Security, our AI Tooling team builds secure internal platforms, applications, and automation that improve how Airwallex protects its systems, data, and employees. We turn emerging AI capabilities into reliable, governed tools that help security and engineering teams work faster, more consistently, and with stronger controls. The team owns Airwallex's AI tooling platform, enabling employees to rapidly build internal applications, dashboards, and workflow automation with a strong focus on platform engineering, integrations, security, and scalability. What you’ll do You'll design, build, and operate the AI tooling platform used by employees across Airwallex. Working closely with internal teams, you'll identify high-impact opportunities to develop AI-powered applications and automation, build platform capabilities and integrations, and scale the infrastructure that powers our internal tooling, including terabyte-scale log pipelines. We're not tied to specific projects, languages, or technologies. Instead, we value engineers who dive deep to solve complex problems with pragmatic, scalable solutions. You'll also mentor junior engineers and help grow our world-class engineering team. This role is based in Melbourne or Sydney. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Lead the development of AI tools and applications, from inception to implementation. - Support incident response efforts by building ad-hoc tools for threat hunting, remediation and scanners. - Build, monitor, and maintain underlying infrastructure, including Kubernetes clusters, serverless workloads, and ETL pipelines. - Sit with engineers to identify opportunities for automation and tooling development - Partner with product engineering teams to drive security outcomes – such as automation for patching, and development of gateways and other services to decrease risk. - Mentor and help grow other Software Engineers in the team.
