As a Security Engineer, you help protect network boundaries, keep computer systems and network devices hardened against attacks and provide security services to protect highly sensitive data like passwords and customer information. Security Engineers work directly with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. You also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities. Responsibilities Analyze vulnerability trends to design out systemic risks and implement secure-by-default frameworks. Address vulnerabilities through direct code contributions, mitigations, and systemic hardening. Perform security design reviews for new YouTube features and distributed systems. Leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) and foundational models to identify and automate the remediation of security gaps. Lead the technical response and post-mortem analysis for security incidents across YouTube products. Research and mitigate platform-specific risks within the YouTube iOS and Android ecosystems. Review mobile application designs and code (e.g., Objective-C, Swift, Java, Kotlin) for security vulnerabilities. Partner with mobile teams to integrate security tools and processes throughout the application development life-cycle.
