About Us Chorus Innovations is a fast-growing healthcare technology company with an adaptive platform as a service (PaaS) that enables the rapid development of mobile, desktop, text messaging and interactive voice applications. Chorus’ platform currently powers transformative healthcare, biomedical research and community health projects across institutions and public health agencies nationwide. We believe every community should have world-class health technology so they can thrive. Our mission is to improve the lives of people and communities by democratizing technology development in health and research. Senior Platform Engineer Location: Hybrid Team: Platform Engineering Reports to: Senior Director Type: Full-time About the Role We’re building a next-generation Healthcare App Platform — a flexible foundation that enables rapid development of high-quality, customizable healthcare applications. This is not your typical role — we’re building the platform that builds the products. Healthcare apps share a lot of the same DNA — appointments, care plans, status tracking, forms, communication, reporting. The challenge is in allowing for workflow customization without sacrificing developer productivity or runtime performance. We’re looking for Senior Engineers to help define and build the service-oriented architecture that powers this platform, in collaboration with in-house SMEs, product, and design partners. What You’ll Be Doing Build Domain-Agnostic Services: Design, build, and maintain highly reliable, scalable, and shared backend services, APIs, and libraries used across multiple product domains. Develop Platform UIs: Build clean, intuitive front-end interfaces (e.g., internal dashboards, developer portals, configuration hubs) that allow product teams to self-serve, monitor, and manage their usage of platform services. Champion Developer Experience (DevEx): Treat internal developers as your primary customers. Actively identify friction points in the engineering lifecycle and build tools or services to eliminate them. Standardize and Scale: Create paved roads and golden paths for product engineers. Ensure that the easiest way to build at Chorus is also the most secure, scalable, and compliant way. Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner closely with product engineering teams to understand their upcoming needs, ensuring the platform evolves ahead of product requirements. Operational Excellence: Drive the reliability and observability of core platform services, establishing robust monitoring, alerting, and automated recovery processes. What We’re Looking For 8+ years of engineering experience, with a strong background in platform or internal tools development Deep experience with: Node.js + NestJS PostgreSQL (including strong data modeling skills) React (used in the context of platform UI libraries and applications) Strong cross-functional collaborator: You live and breathe platform engineering, and you evangelize the power of a well-built platform. Strong systems thinking: you’ve built frameworks, SDKs, design systems, or internal platforms that scale A pragmatic, product-oriented mindset — you’re focused on empowering other engineers through elegant abstractions Demonstrated product sense: understands user needs (internal teams), avoids overengineering, and builds with a clear value proposition Comfortable building and owning services in a service-oriented architecture The strongest candidates have: Experience in healthcare, workflow engines, permissions/RBAC systems, rules engines, or multi-tenant architectures Experience maintaining a fleet of applications built on a common platform Previous Product Management experience Previous consulting or external customer facing experience Nice to Have Experience migrating mission-critical systems onto a new architecture Familiarity with Domain Driven Design Previous Python development experience Why Join Us?
