Anticipated Salary Upon Hire: $67,080.00 - $68,785.60 Annually **Definition:** Performs skilled gardening and routine grounds maintenance of Housing Authority grounds areas. **Characteristics of the Class:** Positions allocable to this class perform high level grounds maintenance function requiring skill and knowledge in areas of planting, propagation, pruning and general care of the grounds areas. This position functions under general supervision and may supervise one or more employees in routine grounds maintenance. - Performs both skilled gardening and routine grounds maintenance duties. - Waters and mows lawns, using large power mowers and other power gardening equipment. - Instructs subordinates in the operation of equipment and other routine gardening functions. - Plants, cultivates, trims, sprays, fertilizes, and prunes trees, shrubs, and lawns. - Prepares soil mixtures and makes cuttings of plant materials for propagation. - Requisitions tools, grass seeds, fertilizers, and spray materials. - Makes minor repairs and adjustments to grounds equipment. - May make minor repairs to broken fences, benches, clothes lines and water sprinklers. - Performs other duties as assigned. **Minimum Requirements:** Two (2) years of experience at the level of the Housing Authority's class of Gardener. Safety Certification in operation of skid steers, riding lawn mower, stinger truck, and similar class equipment. **Special Requirements:** Must possess a valid California Class "C" Driver's License. **Equipment Used:** Mowers, including but not limited to, riding lawn mowers, power edgers, generators, electrical hedge trimmers, gas powered renovators, sod cutter, skid steers, stinger truck street sweeper and similar class equipment. **EXAMINATION** Applications will be reviewed for relevant experience, education and training.
