**Senior Full-Stack Java Engineer – Remote (ONTARIO BASED)** Shape the future of enterprise technology in the insurance sector by supporting and enhancing business-critical applications. This 6-month opportunity combines flexibility, a primarily remote work model, modern technologies, and the chance to contribute to high-impact initiatives in a collaborative environment. **What is in it for you:** • Salaried: $69-89 per hour. • Incorporated Business Rate: $84-104 per hour. • Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week. • 6-month contract covering a maternity leave. • Possibility of contract extension or conversion to a full-time position based on performance. • Work location based at either Toronto or Waterloo offices. • 95% remote work arrangement with occasional onsite attendance for training, working sessions, or team requirements. • Flexible work schedule with a start time between 7:00 am. and 9:30 am. • Rotational after-hours support required for deployments (1–2 evenings per week). • On-call support required only if converted to a permanent position. **Responsibilities:** • Provide ongoing support of Java based applications in Production and test environments including responding to Service requests, Incident & Problem analysis, Service restoration and recovery, Security vulnerability remediation, Audits and reporting as necessary. • Participate in design, develop, test and debug programs for Java services. Deployment is done using Kubernetes containers. • Interface with other Software Engineers, Business Systems Analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver high quality solutions and maintain a stable application environment. • Enable stability through proactive monitoring activities, security compliance, change management, troubleshooting issues and conducting root-cause analysis. • Identify and participate in continuous improvement opportunities, system renewal, stability, upgrade, and Disaster Recovery projects. **What you will need to succeed:** • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent discipline. • 10 years of information technology experience in Java application support and development. • 10 years of experience with Java, JavaScript, HTML, XML, CSS, Java Enterprise Edition (J2EE), including Servlets, JDBC, JSP, Spring Framework, and enterprise methodologies such as ITIL, CMMI, and SDLC. • Minimum of 4 years of experience with ReactJS, Java Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Docker, and Web Security/OWASP. • Experience with web services and frameworks, including SOAP, REST APIs, Java APIs, and JSON. • Experience with database technologies, including SQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL. • Experience with DevOps tools, including Jenkins, Artifactory, Bitbucket/Git, Gradle, Maven, CDD, and Ansible. • Experience with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). • Experience with Kafka and Light Car Proxy. • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills. • Continuous learning mindset. • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing priorities. • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Exposure to Agile frameworks, including Kanban and Scrum, is considered an asset. • Experience with cloud-hosted applications or servers on AWS is considered an asset. • Exposure to Confluence, JIRA, and Microsoft Teams is considered an asset. • Knowledge of middleware technologies such as WebSphere and WebLogic is considered an asset. **Why Recruit Action?** Recruit Action (agency permit: AP-2504511) provides recruitment services through quality support and a personalized approach.
