Seismic Engineer positions focus on delivering results in their domain. This page aggregates open Seismic Engineer roles and what employers typically expect.
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Seismic Engineer to join our growing team and help transform industrial heat at scale. This role offers the opportunity to work on a first-of-its-kind energy technology with tangible, real-world climate impact, supporting the development and deployment of large-scale hardware systems. As part of the Structural Engineering team within the Product Engineering organization, you will support seismic analysis, design and qualification efforts across Rondo’s Heat Battery System. You will work closely with structural, mechanical, process, electrical, controls, manufacturing, and project delivery teams to ensure designs are robust, code-compliant, constructible, and deployable across a wide range of seismic regions. Your work will directly influence product reliability, project execution, permitting success, and the scalability of Rondo's technology platform. Join us in reducing global CO₂ emissions by 1% in 10 years—and 15% in 15 years. What You Will Do Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform Discrete Element Method (DEM) and Finite Element Method (FEM) analyses using appropriate tools and engineering methods. Develop automated analysis workflows for DEM and FEM simulations, including model generation, data extraction, post-processing, visualization, and reporting. Document engineering inputs, assumptions, methodologies, and analysis results, and communicate findings through clear, well-organized technical reports and presentations. Develop and execute model validation and calibration plans using shake table testing data and experimental measurements. Perform seismic hazard assessment and develop seismic design criteria and seismic calculation packages using applicable codes and standards across multiple geographies and regulatory jurisdictionsinternationally. Evaluate seismic demand on various structural and mechanical systems, enclosures, equipment supports, ducting, and various mechanical and electrical interfaces and anchorage. Contribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and iterative engineering environment that fosters open communication and continuous improvement. What You Will Bring Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, with a specialization in earthquake or seismic engineering. 5+ years of experience in seismic engineering, structural dynamics, or earthquake engineering for industrial, energy, infrastructure, or mission-critical facilities. Demonstrated experience using DEM and FEM tools such as 3DEC, SAP2000, and Ansys. Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB for data processing, automation, and development of custom computational tools to support seismic and dynamic system modeling. Strong working knowledge of applicable seismic codes and standards such as ASCE, FEMA, and Eurocode. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to gather, synthesize, document, communicate and present information across technical and non-technical stakeholders. Flexibility, creativity, and a problem-solving mindset. Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and work effectively in a cross-functional organization with mechanical, electrical, process engineering and supply chain teams. Experience using CAD modeling such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor and Navisworks. Bonus Points An advanced degree in Structural Engineering, Structural Mechanics, or Earthquake Engineering. Experience with industrial process facilities, power generation, energy storage, petrochemical, mining, or heavy industrial projects. Experience with performance-based seismic design methodologies for non-building structures and equipment. Experience applying seismic qualification and design standards for industrial equipment and infrastructure, including relevant IEEE and IEC seismic qualification standards, with demonstrated ability to develop, execute, and review seismic analyses, validation programs, and equipment qualification methodologies. Familiarity with international seis…
