# Job Description: Security Systems Engineer / Estimator ## Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Security Systems Engineer / Estimator to join our team. This full-time, on-site position is responsible for the design, engineering, estimating, and support of integrated electronic security solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in low-voltage security systems and the ability to collaborate across sales, project management, and installation teams to ensure the successful delivery of security solutions that meet client requirements. ## Key Responsibilities ### System Design & Engineering - Design, configure, and engineer integrated security systems including CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and intercoms. - Generate technical scopes of work (SOWs), bills of materials (BOMs), cost estimates, and detailed design narratives. - Analyze blueprints, drawings, and specifications to prepare compliant solutions. - Provide accurate and competitive quotes and proposals in response to RFPs. - Assist CAD teams with technical packages including drawings, device details, and schedules. ### Pre-Sales & Client Engagement - Support the sales team during pre-bid opportunities, conduct site walks, and attend customer meetings. - Act as a technical resource for discovery, information gathering, and client-facing discussions. - Present technical information effectively to clients, peers, and management. - Maintain relationships with clients by providing expert advice and superior customer service. ### Project Execution & Support - Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to ensure seamless project handoff and installation. - Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and post-deployment. - Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues related to security systems. - Ensure compliance with industry standards, manufacturer guidelines, and client requirements. ### Continuous Improvement - Stay up to date on emerging technologies, industry trends, and vendor offerings. - Attend manufacturer training and pursue relevant certifications. - Drive adoption of new processes and technologies to enhance solution effectiveness. ## Qualifications & Requirements ### Education & Experience - Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, IT, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. - 3–5+ years of experience in security system engineering, design, or estimating. - Experience in pre-sales design/estimating and preparing client proposals. ### Technical Expertise - Hands-on experience with platforms such as Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Milestone, Axis, Hanwha, Panasonic, HID, and Software House. - Basic understanding of IP networking, PoE (802.3af/at/bt), subnetting, and system integration. - Knowledge of electrified door hardware, locking devices, relay connections, and voltage limitations. - Familiarity with wireless communications (802.11 standards), network switches, routers, and firewalls is a plus. - Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams. ### Skills & Competencies - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). - Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail. - Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to present technical solutions clearly. - Self-motivated, reliable, and able to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment. - Strong organizational and time management skills. ### Preferred Certifications - Manufacturer certifications (e.g., LenelS2, Genetec, Avigilon, Milestone, Software House). - AutoCAD or system design software experience. (Bluebeam, System Surveyor) - Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as they apply to physical security systems.
