The CRO coordinates security operations for the Lee County Justice Center Complex (JCC) and the Cape Coral Government Center (CCGC), assists in access control through the video surveillance and electronic access control systems, serves as the communications hub for all emergency and non-emergency operations, as well as maintain constant monitoring of all alarm systems. The CRO ensures the timely and accurate completion of logs and reports, communicates accurate and timely information to authorized persons, trouble-shoots malfunctioning equipment and or software, and consistently works in a cooperative manner with co-workers and superiors to effectively manage security risks. Through the use of computers, software, sophisticated x-ray and metal detection equipment, as well as personal observations, the CRO will screen persons entering the JCC or CCGC for prohibited items, as defined by Administrative Order 2.18, which includes, but is not limited to, firearms, explosives, knives, as well as other dangerous weapons and hazardous materials. A Security Representative's (Control Room Officer) primary responsibilities include the following: (1) Operate the video surveillance, electronic access control, alarm and communications systems; (2) Peform screening duties at security checkpoints; (3) Perform the duties of a security guard (4) Other duties as assigned.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. (1) Operate the video surveillance, electronic access control, alarm and communications systems: •Monitor the movement of persons being processed through security checkpoints; •Monitor persons in restricted and non-restricted areas of the JCC and CCGC; •Monitor vehicles entering and exiting vehicle control entry/exit points; •Clear all vehicles seeking access through vehicle control entry/exit points; •Complete log entries to document security operations; •Complete Incident Reports; •Monitor panic alarms and coordinate security response; •Serve as the Communications Officer for all emergency and non-emergency communications via email, landline, cellular and or two-way radio; •Trouble-shoot and report malfunctioning surveillance, electronic locks, computer, software, as well as communications equipment; •Complete other duties as assigned. (2) Perform screening duties at security checkpoints: •Visually monitor persons entering the checkpoint; •Ensure that persons surrender personal items for screening; •Physically search persons, as required; •Provide information and direction to visitors, as requested; •Report the detection of prohibited items to a supervisor; •Assist persons in accordance with ADA requirements; •Complete log entries and Incide…
