**Security Guard Job Description** **Position Summary** The Security Guard serves as a crucial member of our safety and security team, responsible for protecting property, assets, guests, and employees through vigilant monitoring and professional response to security concerns. Department Code: 101007 FLSA: Hourly, Non-Exempt Manager: Chris Reynolds **Required Schedule** - Full-time position working forty (40) hours per week - Various shifts available including morning (6:00 AM - 2:00 PM), afternoon (2:00 PM - 10:00 PM), and overnight (10:00 PM - 6:00 AM) - Schedule may vary based on business needs, special events, and seasonal requirements **Essential Functions and Responsibilities** *Security Operations* - Conduct regular patrols of the property, including buildings, parking areas, and grounds - Monitor security systems and surveillance equipment - Maintain detailed logs of all security activities, incidents, and observations - Control access to the property through guest verification and visitor management - Respond promptly to security alerts and emergency situations - Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary *Guest Relations* - Present a professional, approachable security presence that aligns with our hospitality standards - Assist guests with security-related concerns and inquiries - Provide directions and general property information to guests - Handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism - Maintain positive interactions while enforcing property policies *Safety Management* - Identify and report potential safety hazards or security vulnerabilities - Ensure proper implementation of emergency response procedures - Assist in evacuations and other emergency situations as needed - Monitor and enforce fire safety and other safety protocols - Maintain familiarity with property layout and emergency equipment locations *Administrative Duties* - Complete detailed incident reports and security logs - Document all security rounds and notable observations - Maintain security equipment and supplies inventory - Participate in regular security training and briefings - Communicate effectively with other departments regarding security matters *Required Qualifications* - High school diploma or equivalent - Valid New York State Security Guard License - Current CPR and First Aid certification - Clean criminal background check - Valid driver's license with clean driving record - Minimum of 1 year security or related experience - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Proficiency with basic computer systems and security software *Preferred Qualifications* - Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or related field - Prior hospitality or resort security experience - Military or law enforcement background - Additional security certifications - Experience with modern security systems and surveillance equipment Physical Requirements - Ability to patrol property for extended periods - Capability to stand and walk for entire shift - Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds - Ability to react quickly in emergency situations - Capable of working in various weather conditions Core Competencies - Sound judgment and decision-making - Excellent observation skills - Strong interpersonal abilities - Professional demeanor - Ability to remain calm under pressure - Team orientation - Detail-oriented - Customer service focus Working Conditions - Indoor and outdoor environments - Various weather conditions - 24/7 operation environment - Holiday and weekend availability required - Exposure to emergency situations The Security Guard must maintain the highest standards of professionalism and vigilance while contributing to a welcoming resort atmosphere.
