School Nurse JobID: 1870 Position Type: Coordinated School Health/School Nurse Date Posted: 7/16/2026 Location: David Crockett High School Additional Information: Show/Hide Role: School Nurse Education and Experiences: Valid Tennessee Nursing License CPR (BLS)/AED/First Aid Certification One (1) year nursing experience preferred Reports to: The School Nurse is under the direct supervision of the Nursing Supervisor for assigned school. Summary: Provide a safe and supportive environment to address the medical needs of the students and eliminate health related barriers, as well as, promote health and wellness in a holistic manner to improve the student's health and their capacity to learn. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Responsible for medical procedures (catheterization, gastrostomy tube feedings, blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, nebulizer treatments, etc.) Responsible for administration of medication (daily medications, as well as emergency medications such as Glucagon, Diastat and Epi-pens, etc. Responsible for accurate recording and maintaining documentation for all medical interventions, procedures, medications, screenings, immunization compliance, maintenance, inventory, quality assurance checks, Telemedicine, screening follow-up, AED monthly checks and Epi-Pen daily checks. Responsible for keeping accurate documentation of Coordinated School Health data for state reports and direction toward evidence based practice. Responsible for performing /assisting pediculosis screenings. Must maintain thorough documentation of pediculosis cases. Responsible for first aid/emergency care as needed within the school for students, faculty, staff and additional stakeholders. Responsible for initiating, managing and effectively communicating with community partners/stakeholders regarding Telemedicine appointments. Responsible for initiating and managing bi-weekly food bag distribution. Responsible for carrying out Coordinated School Health activities/programs within the school, including establishing and maintaining a Healthy School Team. The Healthy School team is to meet a minimum of two times a year (Fall/Spring semester) and maintain records of sign-in sheets and minutes of each meeting. Responsible for adhering to all Washington County Department of Education School Board Policies, Coordinated School Health Nursing Procedures, and "Guidelines for a Healthcare Professional in a School Setting." Responsible for providing and coordinating collaboration with community partners regarding health education/programs to students, faculty, staff and stakeholders as needed under the supervision of their School Nursing Supervisor to promote awareness and participation of a healthy lifestyle. (Well Child EPSDT visits dental sealants / dental hygiene, hand-washing, flu and other state mandated education programs.) Responsible for annual staff Bloodborne Pathogen in-service. Responsible for coordination and maintenance of the school specific First Responder team. Responsible for continuous interaction with the School Nursing Supervisor regarding issues/concerns.
