**SCHOOL & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT** **SUPERVISOR (FULL TIME)** | **DEPARTMENT** | Conservation/Education | | --- | --- | | **CLASSIFICATION** | Non-Exempt | | **REPORTS TO** | School & Community Engagement Assistant Manager | | **DIRECT REPORTS** | School & Community Engagement Educators | **POSITION DESCRIPTION:** Under general direction, the School & Community Engagement Supervisor is responsible for the organization, implementation, and content development of on and off-site programming for schools and community organizations. The School & Community Engagement Supervisor works to build engaging programs and curriculum that supports educators and educational organizations in the community, while integrating the unique resources and mission of the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium. This position is primarily responsible for the ongoing content development and maintenance of ZooED, Homeschool, and Zoomobile Outreach programming, as well as assisting in the supervision of other programs and projects that engage and empower diverse audiences to become advocates for wildlife and nature. This position assists the School & Community Engagement Assistant Manager in directing the overall education mission and associated educational programs of the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium. **POSITION DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:** | **Duties** | **Percentage** | | --- | --- | | **Program Development, Evaluation & Maintenance** Coordinates, schedules, and supervises program execution in assigned areas and serves as primary back-up when necessary. Coordinates the purchasing, organization, maintenance, and order processing for all program inventories. Assists in establishing and maintaining annual programmatic calendars for assigned program areas. Assists in keeping records pertinent to program operations. Compiles, maintains, and reports information on program participation and impact to stakeholders. Develops, modifies, and improves various channels of correspondence with program stakeholders. Assists with the development and coordination of marketing efforts for assigned programs. Leads in the development of area program content, including creating curriculum and educational resources, ensuring accessible and inclusive design, and integrating appropriate curriculum development methods and teaching strategies. | 65% | | **Leadership and Team Administration** Directly supervises staff through hiring and onboarding, training, evaluation, coaching, and development. Bachelor’s degree in education, biology or related field preferred. 2. **EXPERIENCE:** 1. 2-3 years’ experience with formal/informal education programs strongly preferred. 2. Prior experience in zoos, aquariums, museums, interpretation, or related field welcomed. 3. Knowledge of curriculum development methods and strategies. 4. Familiarity of national and state education standards preferred. 5. Experience blending and incorporating informal and formal learning into relevant products, such as written content, projects, programs, or long-standing partnerships. 6. Previous demonstration of supervisory abilities and skills. 7. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, audio-visual equipment, Adobe Creative Suite, required. 8.
