Job Title: Scale House Operator SOC code: 43-5111 FLSA Classification: Non- Exempt Department/Location: Buckland, AK Reports to: Project Manager Status: Full Time, Temporary, Duration 3 months EEO-1: Administrative Support Schedule: Normal work schedules are 12-hour days for 7 days a week. Days and hours vary based on project schedules, locations and workload. Mandatory overtime based on seasonal workload and remote work settings. Summary: Responsible for weighing trucks and ensuring that customer trucks (internal and external) do not leave the yard improperly loaded (no overweight loads). Essential Functions: - Weigh trucks and verify that loads meet weight requirements. - Ensure customer trucks (internal and external) do not leave the yard overweight. - Send transaction registers and ticket copies to the main office on a daily basis. - Record truck tare weights (empty weight) on a weekly basis. - Answer phones and take accurate messages in the absence of others. - Monitor ticket and supply levels to ensure adequate stock is maintained. - Consolidate and sign off on fuel truck deliveries for pit operations. - Develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and co-workers. - Maintain cleanliness of the scale house. - Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably can also perform other tasks satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: *Minimum:* - A valid driver license - Previous scale experience *Preferred:* - 2 years prior work experience Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: - The ability to positively and professionally represent the company to stakeholders, customers, regulatory agencies and the public. - The ability to understand and effectively communicate verbally with others. - The ability to speak clearly so others can understand. - The ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints. - The ability to travel frequently to remote project sites and stay up to several weeks at a time. - Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions. - Ability to see written and computerized data and information. - Ability to work with written and computerized data and information. - Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand. - Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally with others. - Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team. - Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions - Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
