Under general supervision, collects and removes solid waste and refuse, coordinates with Sanitation Drivers in performance of duties. | Assists with vehicle inspections to ensure safe operation of City equipment and loads solid waste into department vehicles in the performance of assignment. | | --- | | Follows scheduled routes and safely navigates City streets while performing refuse and solid waste pickups and coordinates with Sanitation Drivers in completion of assigned route and assignments. | | Completes pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment; performs special assignments for refuse collection as directed by supervisor. | | Follows all safety regulations while riding with Sanitation Drivers and in loading and unloading waste and refuse from department vehicles. | | Performs refuse dumping at assigned locations and follows all TCEQ, OSHA, EPA, road, and safety regulations in performance of assignment and operation of equipment. | | Coordinates with landfill personnel for removal of waste and refuse in department equipment. | | Responds and interacts with public in completion of duties, answers questions, and assists with special refuse or waste assignments. | | Performs other duties as assigned. | | Has frequent contact with employees, citizens, local state, federal agencies, and other city departments. | | Ability to arrive to work on time and must maintain a regular and reliable level of attendance. | - Knowledge of routes, equipment and operating procedures of solid waste collection, recycling, and landfill operations. - Knowledge of Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) & Environmental Protection Agency rules and regulations. - Knowledge of management methods used in operation and maintenance of refuse collection services. - Knowledge of refuse collection and recycling methods. - City organization, operations, policies, and procedures. - Using computers and software programs as necessary. - Promoting and enforcing safe work practices. High School diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in manual labor, construction, or equivalent; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A Valid Class C Texas driver license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record.
