Thyssen Mining is a full-service underground mining contractor with several projects in Canada and the US. Thyssen Mining is looking for a Safety Coordinator for project in Ontario. **RESPONSIBILITIES:** - Undertake regular audits/inspections of operations to ensure policy and procedures are implemented and being used, and that projects are in compliance with regulations, legislation and standard operating procedures. Report findings to line and senior management for rectification of deficiencies. - Assist in managing Worker Compensation claims, return to work and modified work programs. - Conduct and/or oversee incident investigations and ensure recommendations are communicated effectively to all sites. - Ensure that company policies are implemented and adhered to for areas under your control and developed where appropriate to ensure consistent performance and consistent management. - Maintain your qualifications in keeping with the industry requirements. Keep abreast of developments and participate in committees as required to maintain the necessary industry contacts and information exchange. - Ensure that the accountabilities and responsibilities of subordinates are clearly communicated to those employees and that they are managed according to those accountabilities and responsibilities. - Liaise with other departments as required to fulfill the requirements of your position. - Ensure that good relations are maintained with our clients and that the company’s interests are promoted at every opportunity. - Policies – Ensure that Thyssen Mining’s policies are adhered to with regards to safety, environment, assets, HR, recruitment, payroll and other polices as they are implemented from time to time. - Adherence to all corporate and project policy, processes and procedures. - Stay up to date on training as per corporate safety & cyber security programs. **REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND COMPENTENCIES** - Support and promote Corporate Health & Safety practices. - Able to adapt and learn or accept as required. - Strong team player with both technical and non-technical people. - Must exhibit exceptional organizational and multitasking skills. - Has a methodical and detail-oriented approach to work practices. - Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively in a team environment. - Computer usage – operations specific software - You must have Ontario Underground Hardrock Miner Common Core and NORCAT Certificate and previous experience as a Safety Coordinator in the mining or construction industry. This is a site-based position with a schedule working 10-12 hours per day. Thyssen Mining offers a comprehensive compensation package $28/hr plus bonus, including medical, dental, group RSP and life insurance. We thank all applicants for their interest.
