Work on and help sustain a safe school environment for students, staff, and members of the public who are on school property. Provide technical assistance to school sites in the required documentation of annual required reporting to NMPED and the updating of Safe School Plans as required by NMPED. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist administration in maintaining an effective operation by monitoring hallways, and surrounding school premises, and help with all scheduled athletic events as assigned. Assist and respond to school sites and/or assigned sister school sites to provide assistance in investigations, Emergency Drills, Safe School Plans, and any other assigned duties as needed. Monitor and report student behavior and student conduct to site administration when appropriate. Check and report tardiness, truancies, student conflicts, and unusual occurrences to the appropriate school administration. Escort students to the Principal's Office, Assistant Principal's Office, Counselors, and Nurse's Office as needed. Report, record, and write reports of student conduct violations, disturbances, fights, unethical behavior, and/or but not limited to school thefts, and break-ins to site administration. Provide in-service training to help administrators and site School Safety Teams be better prepared to deal with safety-related/COVID-19 matters and serve as a team member to support student/staff Provide instruction and direction to administrators and staff regarding safety/emergency situations and help with ICS Management as needed during emergency situations/drills. Work closely with the principal and school staff to foster a better understanding of school safety functions needed for a secure/safe learning environment. Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, security doors left unlocked, and any unusual activity. Direct authorized visitors to their proper destination, report, and monitor unauthorized visitors. Proactively work with the school's leadership teams and collaborate with the school's administrative team to implement safety plans, protocols, and procedures. Provide the leadership and direction to develop, implement, and oversee a district safety program. Develops district procedures and implement; implement enforcing set policies and procedures; Coordinate monthly checks on district AEDs and provide training Coordinate and plan training for required staff on nonviolent crisis intervention, while keeping the log and budget. Assist the CCSD Safety Coordinator with the following when necessary/appropriate: Patrol District property for suspicious activity, unauthorized persons on campus, or unauthorized entry. Conduct routine patrols of assigned District facilities to include buildings, parking lots, and district-owned, leased, or rented property; operate district equipment to include alarm systems, surveillance equipment, and patrol units when necessary. Assist law enforcement agencies with incidents involving local criminal activity that may impact the safety of the environment for students and staff. Serve as the initial First Responder for campus emergencies. Assist building principals with monthly fire drills, lockdowns, and safety table-top training.
