## Overview Under close supervision of the Automation Manager, the Robotic Welding Technician I assists with the operation, basic programming, and routine maintenance of robotic welding systems. This entry-level role is well suited to a recent graduate of a welding, robotics, or industrial automation program who is building foundational robotic welding and programming skills. ## Description This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. • Learn to create basic robot programs, including weld path development, under the guidance of senior technicians or engineers. • Assist with programming and testing of robot searching functions, PLC communication tasks, and simple program edits using robot teach pendants & 3D offline programming software. • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. • Service the robot weld torch and wire feeding system, including changing the torch, contact tips, gas diffusers, insulators, nozzles, drive rolls, and welding wire. • Assist with troubleshooting robot errors and perform basic preventative and regular maintenance on robotic welders. • Develop foundational weld parameter knowledge for standard customer processes with supervision. • Read and interpret weld prints, layouts, mechanical prints, and electrical schematic drawings. • Assist with maintaining robotic weld quality and efficiency. • Assist with electrical and mechanical assembly to meet project schedules. • Provide supervisor and project manager with timely status reports on projects. • Travel as required to complete project tasks or field service assignments. • Stay current on new developments in robotic welding and automation. • Comply with all quality and safety regulations. • Other responsibilities as assigned. ## Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. **Education and/or Experience** • Associate's degree in welding, robotics, or industrial automation (or equivalent combination of education and training); recent graduates encouraged to apply. • 2 years of experience operating a weld robot; internship, co-op, or relevant coursework in robotic welding or automation preferred. • Basic MIG/TIG welding knowledge or hands-on training. • Exposure to 3D offline programming software a plus. | **WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS** | | --- | The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
