## Description **TITLE: Registered Nurse** **REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing** **Non-Exempt** **PURPOSE OF POSITION:** The primary purpose of the position is to direct and supervise resident care in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility and as may be required by the Director of Nursing to ensure that the highest quality of care is maintained at all times. **ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES:** 1. Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well-being of the residents; checks each resident daily to determine status; ensures residents reach the highest attainable level of functioning. 2. Prepare equipment and assists physicians during their rounds. 3. Administers prescribed medications, provides treatments using therapeutic equipment; ensures proper handling and storage of medications and controlled substances. 4. Observes resident’s reactions to medications and treatments. 5. Observes, records, and reports changes in residents’ condition to the supervisor and attending physician. 6. Maintains resident’s medical record by way of documentation as required by policy. 7. Provides education to residents and families regarding care. 8. Assists in planning, supervising, and instructing CNA; assigns daily work assignments to ensure positive outcomes for residents. **KEY CHARACTERISTICS:** 1. Must have the ability to lead and motivate co-workers. 2. Ability to work independently without supervision. 3. Able to work intimately with residents, physicians, and staff. 4. Good interpersonal and communication skills. **EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:** 1. Has a current unencumbered Georgia RN license. 2. Experience in the long-term care setting is preferred.
