The Clinical Director functions at a professional nursing level using both administrative leadership and clinical expertise in order to assure that quality, individualized, comprehensive care is rendered to the resident population, through collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The Clinical Director has responsibility for continuity of care on the assigned neighborhood 24 hours per day. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. **Utilizes expertise in a leadership role as a Clinical Expert of an assigned neighborhood.** - Supervises and coordinates nursing services on assigned neighborhood. - Coordinates staff scheduling to ensure resident care needs are met. - Makes rounds on a regular basis to observe and monitor care being rendered. - Assists with physician rounds as needed. - Ensures nursing care is carried out as directed by practitioner orders and organizational policies and procedures. - Evaluates the work performance of nursing personnel on all shifts as it relates to their job description and the standards and goals of the facility. - Obtains report and communicates follow-up needs to nursing staff and supervisors. - Demonstrates, teaches, and evaluates nursing skills utilized in the direct care of the neighborhood’s residents. - Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with staff to establish neighborhood goals and protocols and to initiate, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of these processes. - Meets with evening and night supervisor when necessary to discuss concerns relating to their shift. - Flexes schedule to directly observe and manage staff on all shifts and meet neighborhood goals and objectives. - Identifies educational needs of the staff and plans programs to meet those needs. - Participates in facility provided educational programs. - Assures staff attend & receive training on resident care topics as required by regulations and resident care needs. - Functions as Registered Nurse in Charge as assigned. - Supervises, coordinates, monitors, and assists in orientation of new staff. - Attends meetings as assigned. - Participates in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement activities as assigned. - Adheres to facility policies & procedures for nursing practice. - Understands and adheres to 49 Pa. Code § 21.18 Standards of nursing conduct. - Understands and complies with 49 Pa. Code § 21.11 - §21.16 Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse. - Understands and complies with State and Federal regulations for care of residents in nursing facilities. 1. **Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individual needs and rights.** - Collaborates with Residents, Resident Representatives, Physicians and Physician extenders, and the Interdisciplinary team to coordinate individualized care based on Resident needs and goals. - Reviews orders, consultant recommendations, and care plan changes and ensures care is appropriate and documentation is complete. - Collaborates with RNAC in completion of MDS Assessments. - Communicates with Residents and families to discuss Resident care needs and progress made towards goals; and provide encouragement and support to Residents and their families. - III.
