RN Charge Nurse- Night Shift

JOB PURPOSE: The Registered Nurse Charge is a leadership role providing guidance and support to direct reports. This role will act as the leader for clinical nursing needs on their shift day or night. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Serves in a leadership role through clinical practice, supervision, teaching and research. - Coordinates with leadership on schedules and timecards. - Oversees staffing for nursing department. - Responsible for employee performance evaluations. - Assesses the full scope of patient needs using the nursing process on a continuous basis. - Provides a safe environment for patients and employees through identifying/correcting/reporting health and safety hazards. - Cooperates with distribution of resources to maintain a therapeutic environment. - Maintains interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors and co-workers. - Accountable for nursing practice through planned and continuous professional growth and development. - Uses knowledge and judgement needed to meet the nursing needs of patient. - Other duties may be assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS OR ABILITIES: - Communication Proficiency. - Learning Orientation. - Ethical Conduct. - Ability to maintain quality control standards. - Knowledge of how to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. - Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations to give and evaluate patient care. - Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment. - Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care. - Skill in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings. - Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: - Graduate from an accredited nursing program - Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in Ohio or able to obtain an Ohio nursing license. - Minimum 3 years nursing experience. - CPR/BLS Certified.
