JOB PURPOSE: The Registered Nurse Charge is a leadership role providing guidance and support to direct reports. This role will act as the leader for clinical nursing needs on their shift day or night. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Serves in a leadership role through clinical practice, supervision, teaching and research. - Coordinates with leadership on schedules and timecards. - Oversees staffing for nursing department. - Responsible for employee performance evaluations. - Assesses the full scope of patient needs using the nursing process on a continuous basis. - Provides a safe environment for patients and employees through identifying/correcting/reporting health and safety hazards. - Cooperates with distribution of resources to maintain a therapeutic environment. - Maintains interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors and co-workers. - Accountable for nursing practice through planned and continuous professional growth and development. - Uses knowledge and judgement needed to meet the nursing needs of patient. - Other duties may be assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS OR ABILITIES: - Communication Proficiency. - Learning Orientation. - Ethical Conduct. - Ability to maintain quality control standards. - Knowledge of how to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. - Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations to give and evaluate patient care. - Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment. - Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care. - Skill in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings. - Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: - Graduate from an accredited nursing program - Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in Ohio or able to obtain an Ohio nursing license. - Minimum 3 years nursing experience. - CPR/BLS Certified. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical demands described are representative of those that must be routinely met by and employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essentials duties. - Ability to lift minimum 25 pounds. - Ability to perform job responsibilities in a facility with multiple levels and without elevator or mechanical transportation. - Operates a computer and keyboard. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job can operate in an outpatient or inpatient facility environment.
