With regular attendance, this position provides leadership to staff, promotes organizational efficiency, and ensures compliance with County policies and procedures. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Supervise and support team members to ensure effective performance, adherence to County policies, and achievement of operational goals.ESSENTIAL DUTIES • Manage the daily operations of the Adult Corrections Department support staff; prepare work schedules and expedite workflow; assign duties, monitor performance, evaluate, standardize, and improve procedures. • Oversee and ensure adequate staffing needs of the support staff; provide final approval and/or final denial of requests for leave, overtime, compensatory time, and training time. • Review and submit all corrections employee payroll records. • Monitor the administration of wage, position, and employee changes for the department and complete Employee Actions Forms. • Calculate cost-out information (e.g. sick, compensatory time, and vacation accruals) for employee separations. • Oversee the maintenance of personnel records. • Monitor daily financial activities, including accounting, purchasing, invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, collection of restitutions, cash, and credit and collection. • Compose divisional communications and records including correspondence, disciplinary actions, internal investigations of personnel, and reports. • Act as a liaison between vendors (e.g. medical unit, kitchen) and command staff. • Liaise with Human Resources regarding alleged job-related injuries and/or illnesses from departmental staff. • Orient new employees and conduct department specific training programs. • Assist in the preparation of the annual departmental budget and verify funds as needed. • Assist in the implementation and enhancement of HRIS and other department specific systems. • Ensure administrative practices comply with collective bargaining agreements, employment policies, and applicable departmental policies. • Perform other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s\* degree in public or business administration or a related role. • 4 years of experience in office administration or a related role. \*Approved work experience beyond that required which provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered and substituted for the stated education. • Have and maintain a valid Driver’s License, as well as meet eligibility requirements of “acceptable driving standards” as defined by the County.
