Allays fears and explains procedures and treatments to patient in an age appropriate manner. Demonstrates competency and functions utilizing appropriate judgment in all patient settings. Performs miscellaneous delegated tasks as necessary. Essential Functions - Demonstrates effective behaviors as outlined in the organization-wide core competencies. - Understands and satisfies the needs of the neonatal, toddler, pre-school, school age, adolescent and/or adult patient in regards to their growth and development process. Modifies approach and communication to accommodate different developmental levels of children/families with emphasis on allaying fears and explaining limited procedures and treatments. - Performs delegated respiratory care modalities safely and as scheduled, within allotted time frame, including but not limited to: pulmonary hygiene, medical gas administration, humidity and aerosol systems, pharmacologic drug administration, and positive pressure devices under the direction and supervision of a Respiratory Care Practitioner. - Assists with setting up and cleaning of permanent equipment and miscellaneous delegated tasks. - Recognizes changes in patient status and emergent/urgent situations and responds appropriately. Responds to delegated tasks during emergent/urgent situations. - Acts as a team member. Communicates and collaborates effectively in a timely/positive manner and maintains good working relationships with all CHS and medical staff. - Offers help and accepts help when situations are warranted. Demonstrates understanding of the work/needs of other units/departments. - Maintains required responsibilities by attending educational programs, in-services, and interdisciplinary meetings as necessary. Stays appraised of any relevant policy and procedure revisions. Identifies own learning needs and seeks assistance/direction in meeting them. Identify opportunities for improvement. Education: - Currently enrollment in the second year of a CoARC approved program in Respiratory Therapy required - Incumbents must transition out of this role within 90 days of graduation required Experience: - Prefer experience with computer skills required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Possesses rudimentary assessment and basic analytical skills in order to perform limited patient observations. - Requires interpersonal skills which involve collaborating with peers, supervisors and medical staff. Understands role of performing delegated tasks. - Ability to stand and walk for up to eighty percent of work time when performing job assignments. - Ability to push or pull equipment that may weigh up to 170 lb. - Ability to lift equipment/supplies up to 25 lb. - Ability to lift or…
