Department: 00247 - Pathology Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Confers with senior laboratory personnel regarding the procedures and techniques to be followed in conducting research. Performs laboratory tests and conducts experiments and procedures either independently or in a team setting with other researchers in the laboratory. Makes statistical calculations, analyzes data and prepares reports summarizing results. Must be willing to work with research mice, will perform duties to manage research mouse colony, and collect animal tissues and specimens for laboratory analysis. Performs laboratory duties to clean and maintain equipment and ensures a safe work environment by monitoring and practicing safe laboratory procedures. Job Summary: Research Technician II | Job Code S56442 | Grade S14 The Scott Hale Lab in the Department of Pathology seeks a research technician to perform technical procedures in an immunology research laboratory under minimal supervision by applying standard scientific techniques and analytical principles. The employee will record observations and measurements, and report results. May be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. May assist with receipt and inspection of raw materials, and ordering and stocking of materials and equipment. Minimum Qualifications: EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience). Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels: Research Technician, II: Requires at least 1 year of related experience. Additional Information: The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems (“URS”).
