They will bring compelling writing and well-honed storytelling chops to all of their work – from character-driven profiles to political trend stories about a wide range of topics defining the current American moment, with a focus on the forces restricting human rights and civil liberties and how communities are responding. **Responsibilities** - Work with the Guardian US’s senior editor, news and features, and other editors and reporters, to break news and report enterprise stories on how the political landscape is reshaping civil society in the US - Monitor higher education, nonprofit, legal and other civil society institutions for newsworthy stories; identify and pitch stories on a wide range of topics related to attacks on civil liberties and how advocates are responding - Publish stories at regular intervals in range of formats, including quick turnaround breaking news and longer stories requiring several weeks of reporting **Experience** - At least 5 years of experience as a journalist, with a substantial amount of that time spent in a fast-paced, breaking news environment - A track record producing high-impact scoops - Comfort with investigative tools **Ski…
