**Job Summary** **: The perioperative nurse will function in the role of the circulating nurse and may function in the scrub role in the operating room.** **Job Responsibilities:** 1. ****Supports patient’s rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural, ethical and religious diversity. 2. Conducts self in a professional manner. 11. Provides leadership and autonomy in the professional practice setting and the profession. 12. Assesses the patient’s initial and ongoing condition. 13. Formulates a plan and identifies individualized patient needs. 14. Facilitates interventions in accordance with patient’s established plan of care and provides appropriate nursing interventions for the patient undergoing surgical intervention. 15. Evaluates progress towards the attainment of the patient’s plan of care by constantly individualizing, updating and prioritizing the plan of care. 16. Follows policy and procedures for cleaning, disinfecting and sterilization of scopes and instruments. 17. Follows policy and procedure for environmental cleaning and housekeeping. **Education Requirements and Other Requirements:** Education Level: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Certification/Licensure: Illinois licensed or eligible. CPR certification required. ACLS preferred or must be completed within one year. CNOR preferred. Experience Requirements: Minimum one-year scrub/circulator experience preferred.
