## Description Western Wisconsin Health is seeking a casual Dialysis Registered Nurse (0.0 FTE). Nurses work under the direction of a licensed physician or nurse practitioner credentialed at Western Wisconsin Health. Responsibilities include collaborating with the care team in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, within the objectives, standards, and policies of the department and within the parameters of his/her preparation. Dialysis Nurses provide care and support for patients suffering from acute and chronic renal (kidney) failure. They assist pre- and during dialysis procedures, following physician orders. All of this is done to support the organization’s mission while living our values. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Dialysis Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of Dialysis Nurses include (but are not limited to): - Coordinate and oversee the daily operations of outpatient and/or inpatient dialysis services. - Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized patient care plans for patients with chronic and acute kidney disease. - Assess dialysis patients before, during, and after treatment, recognizing and responding appropriately to changes in patient condition. - Serve as the clinical resource for dialysis staff regarding treatment protocols, vascular access management, medication administration, infection prevention, and emergency response. - Collaborate with nephrologists, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient management. - Monitor dialysis treatment quality indicators, patient outcomes, laboratory values, and treatment adequacy, implementing corrective actions as needed. - Participate in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities by collecting, analyzing, and reporting clinical quality data and implementing performance improvement initiatives. - Participate in survey readiness activities and assist with regulatory inspections, audits, and corrective action planning. - Records information concisely, accurately and completely according to facility policy; - Prepares, administers, and records medications in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a registered nurse; - Readies dialysis equipment; - Oversees dialysis treatment from start to finish, in both the inpatient and outpatient settings; - Cannulates accesses; - Cleans and dresses permanent and temporary catheters; - Monitors patient and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records information; - Obtains blood work as indicated by provider order; - Educates patients and caregivers , regarding dialysis treatment, vascular access care, medications, fluid management, dietary restrictions and disease self-management. - Maintains medical inventory; - Assists in the orientation of new personnel/acts as preceptor when requested; - Collaborate with the department manager on staffing, scheduling, policy development, budgeting and operational planning. - Demonstrates awareness, understanding and respect of cultural diversity and patients of all ages and socioeconomic groups; and, - Other duties as assigned. **Other Responsibilities:** - Completes required orientation as directed by facility - Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment - Follows facility and GHR Unusual Occurrence Protocol - Ensures compliance with regulations and healthcare standards. ## Requirements **QUALIFICATIONS** *Western Wisconsin Health expects employees to understand and to incorporate the values of our organization in their day-to-day practice.
