Ball Memorial’s medical diabetes unit is an 18-bed unit specializes in providing exceptional care for patients transitioning from progressive to medical levels of care. We specialize in the care of the acutely ill Diabetic Patients. Join our dynamic team on the Progressive Care Unit using the innovative Team-Based Acuity Adaptable Model (TBAAM). Our dedicated team includes skilled nurses, patient care assistants, a unit secretary, an RN case manager, a geographically placed physician, a pharmacist, and a dietician. **Nursing skills gained on this unit:** - Use of insulin and cardiac drips - Collaboration with other disciplines - Foundation of nursing - Prioritization of care - Patient education **Unit Successes/Designations/National Recognition:** - Daisy and Bee Award nominations - 2023- MDU Daisy Award Winner - 2023- 2 Bee Award Winners - 2023-Presented Innovation trial at AMSN conference - Certified Nurses - Distinguished Nurse **Unit Culture:** - Unit Based Council- very active and focused on improving nurse and patient outcomes. - Flexible scheduling to accommodate professional development opportunities - Academy of Nursing Excellence, - Furthering education - Attending educational offerings and conferences. - 2023- MDU involved/picked to be involved in innovation opportunities - MDU- support of 2 Clinical Nurse Specialist (Med/Surg and Critical Care) **Qualifications** - Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. - Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. - Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience.
