Nurses in this department gain exposure to complex emergency, trauma, cardiac, stroke, critical care, and specialty cases while building advanced clinical skills in a collaborative environment. Sentara Norfolk General Emergency Department has been recognized with the Emergency Nurses Association **Lantern Award**, honoring **exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research**. **Education Requirements** - Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing required - BSN or MSN preferred - Students completing an accredited nursing program may be considered **Certification/Licensure Requirements** - Registered Nurse license required - Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nurse license may be considered - Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire - NIHSS, TCRN, SCRN, TNCC, CEN, PALS, and ACLS preferred **Experience Requirements** - Prior RN experience preferred - Emergency Department experience preferred - Strong candidates with related acute care, critical care, intermediate care, trauma, cardiac, stroke, or med/surg experience are encouraged to apply **Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is the region’s first Magnet** hospital, **a 525-bed medical center, a primary teaching facility, and home to the** area’s **only Level** I **Trauma Center within a 126-mile region.** **Who We’re Looking For** We are seeking RNs who thrive in a fast-paced setting, communicate effectively, demonstrate strong critical thinking, and are committed to delivering safe, patient-centered emergency care.
