## Description **GENERAL SUMMARY:** Under the direction of the Director, Recreation Therapy, the Recreation Therapy Aide plans, organizes, and implements a variety of individual and group activities designed to meet the needs of all residents of Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center. Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the person-specific needs of the patients served. Type of supervision exercised: none. Jobs reporting to this position: none. **EDUCATION:** High school diploma or equivalent preferred. **WORK EXPERIENCE:** Previous experience working with a geriatric population preferred. **CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB:** Implements recreation programs to meet the needs of residents through age appropriate physical, cognitive, social and emotional activities inside the facility. This includes planning and carrying out large and small group activities, as well as individual leisure pursuits. Completes the required documentation including daily attendance, quarterly activity review and goal setting. Assists with documentation for plan of care. Conducts activity assessments on all admission/readmission’s as assigned. Assist with all facility sponsored special events including resident transportation as well as event set-up and cleanup as needed. Distributes individual and unit activity calendars on a monthly basis; monitors supplies needed for scheduled activities; decorates units/lobby area for theme events/holidays, under the direction of the Director. Provides direction and support for volunteers/ students as assigned. Attends required SNC/Corporate in-services or educational program to maintain knowledge and competence. Assists the residents with practicing their citizenship rights through providing voting as well as absentee ballot assistance as necessary. **SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:** Clearances required: PA State Police criminal history check and PA Department of Aging FBI fingerprint clearance (if applicable). Must be certified or become certified in CPR. Ability to maintain/promote positive relationships with residents, families, and facility personnel required. Valid PA driver’s license preferred. If selected as a driver, must pass Allied Services’ Driver Training Program.
