**Position Title:** Recreation Supervisor **L****ocation:** Quentin Burdick Job Corps Center Minot ND **Reports To:** Independent Living Director The Recreation Supervisor position provides support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally-funded residential training program. The mission of Job Corps is to provide career-ready technical and academic training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24. **Summary of Duties:** Responsible for monitoring and directing students engaged in center-sponsored recreational activities on- and off-center in compliance with government and management directives. **Key Areas of Responsibility:** - Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data. - Assists students in adjusting to Center life by providing supervision, behavior modification and acting as a mentor. - Responsible for the management of the department. - Oversees staff members assigned to this department. - Ensures staff members have adequate training to complete key areas of responsibilities. - Provides documented training to staff. Cross-trains department employees. Coordinates staff meetings. - Ensures that all staff participates in CMT. - Develops and implements Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). - Ensures department is compliant with all safety standards and expectations to include proper workmen’s compensation reporting. - Ensures department is in compliance with all DOL, Corporate and Center requirements. - Administer an effective and quality recreation program. - Develops programs that promote productive and socially acceptable uses of leisure time. - Assists students in understanding and developing lifelong leisure time skills and habits. - Builds students’ self-esteem by developing teamwork, good sports conduct, and other positive social behaviors. - Enhances the Job Corps experience for students by providing them with opportunities to participate in enjoyable and safe activities. - Ensures that students can demonstrate the appropriate use of facilities and equipment. - Ensures that all students participate in the water safety program. Develops and implements a successful off- Center leisure time employment program. - Develops and maintains a calendar of recreational activities and events, and distributes the schedule to students in advance of activities listed. - Helps to develop and maintain a functioning Continuing Education program. - Conducts surveys of students’ recreational interests and participation, and utilizes the information gathered in planning recreational activities. - Ensures that recreational activities contain community service projects. - Monitors budget and related areas for assigned department and maintains spending limits as applicable. - Ensures equipment assigned to the department is properly accounted for and maintained in good condition. - Tracks spending of staff each month and provides feedback for over/under spending. - Notifies the Center Director of repairs/costs above routine expenditures. - Identifies successes and areas of improvement. Delegates tasks or responsibilities for the purpose of developing others’ abilities. Rewards good performance and promotes employee recognition. - Ensures that departmental staff completes all DOL, Corporate and Center training as required and demonstrates competencies accordingly. - Supports the CDSS initiatives. - Develops and implements a productive Work-based Learning program to include the development of students’ employability and social skills. - Explores innovative ways to incorporate recreation activities into the students’ academic and CTT learning. - Participates on a SGA committee. - Displays management effectiveness: Builds pride and commitment through effective teamwork and collaboration.
