**NATURE OF POSITION** Plan, program, and facilitate the pottery retail sales within the bisque prep environment. The primary focus is delivering an exceptional customer artistic experience through calm, courteous, and respectful guidance at all times. This position requires the ability to manage multiple simultaneous activities and customer interactions while maintaining composure and prioritizing a safe, welcoming environment. Extensive customer service is essential throughout all participant interactions. Weekend and evening availability is required. **SUPERVISION RECEIVED** General direction and oversight is provided by the Recreation Supervisor. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** 1. Effectively represent the City of Walla Walla. Present a positive, professional image; maintain cooperative and effective working relationships; assure excellent customer service with internal and external customers. 3. Maintain professional manner and appearance while wearing a provided uniform; Pottery Studio Apron. 4. Cashier and assist with accounting for fees collected. 5. Maintain excellent communication with all staff and customers through verbal and written means. **** 6. Assist in recreational office tasks; answer phones, make copies, take program registrations, and help provide support where needed. 7. Act as an ambassador to urban parks and downtown area. Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with a range of partners, area businesses, residents, and visitors. 8. Interact and develop rapport with visitors. Listen to questions, suggestions, and concerns, as to share that information with appropriate staff. 9. Recognize and respond to safety and security issues. Notify police and/or emergency services as dictated by the situation. 10. Clean and sanitize tables and chairs, pick up litter, move tables and chairs as required; inspect and observe amenities inside and outside of the pottery studio and notify appropriate personnel of safety hazards and repair needs. **OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS** 1. Demonstrate punctual, regular, and reliable attendance which is essential for successful job performance. 2. Execute assignments, projects, and job responsibilities efficiently and within defined timeframes; work independently and effectively with little direction. 3. Demonstrate good judgment and employ critical thinking to execute duties, identify issues, seek solutions, and recommend improvements in support of departmental goals. 4. Provide assistance to staff and higher-level management; participate in resolving operational or interpersonal concerns; participate in training, meetings, and on committees as assigned. 5. Respect the value of diversity in the workplace and the community. 6. Perform other duties as assigned. **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES** - Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people. - Basic conflict resolution capabilities, practice good judgement, problem solving, and reason. - Able to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations, and in a sometimes fast-paced environment. - Ability to be outgoing, positive, friendly, assertive, independent, and self-directed. - Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing information and situations by using critical thinking skills and leadership skills.
