The Receiving Clerk is responsible for performing the material handling functions relative to receiving, storing, issuing, and inventorying food and non-food items for the Food & Nutrition Services department. The Receiving Clerk is responsible for performing the material handling functions relative to receiving, storing, issuing, and inventorying food and non-food items for the Food & Nutrition Services department. ### Responsibilities **1. RECEIVING** - Verifies accuracy of shipments and inspects food/supplies for damages and defects. Reports discrepancies and problems to supervisor. **2. ISSUING** - Gathers food and supplies from storage areas, according to requisitions, for food production needs. Fills requisitions and pick lists when pulling stock from stores for delivery to patient units and other users. Reports inventory shortages to supervisor. **3. MAINTAIN WORK AREA** - Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of assigned storage areas. Straightens supplies. Rotates stock. **4. FOOD SAFETY AND SANITATION** - Adheres Health Department and Joint Commission standards related to the storage of food, supplies and chemicals. Follows policies and acceptable practices concerning food safety, infection control and quality control. **5. TRANSPORT EQUIPMENT** - Competently operates motorized and manual supply distribution equipment. **6. CONTINUING EDUCATION** - Attends meetings as required to enhance knowledge, job skills and communication within the department. Completes computer-based education modules as assigned by hospital. **7. OTHER** - Performs other duties as required or assigned. ### Qualifications **KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:** EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Experience helpful but not required; on-the-job training provided. REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Related foodservice knowledge and skills helpful but not required. **LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:** ServSafe certification in food service sanitation preferred when applying – required prior to 90-day review.
