**Total public members:** 9 **Method of Appointment:** Appointed by Mayor, confirmed by Council **Length of Appointment:** 2 years **Residency:** Must be a resident of the District of Columbia **Compensation:** None (all roles are voluntary) The Racial Equity Advisory Board consists of nine (9) community members to provide to the Office ongoing input on racial equity in the District and to serve as a liaison between the Office and the public. The Board shall meet not less frequently than quarterly and shall keep minutes of its meetings that shall be made publicly available, upon request. **MEMBER BACKGROUND** Members of the Board shall be District residents and appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council pursuant to [§ 1-523.01(f)](https://code.dccouncil.us/dc/council/code/sections/1-523.01.html#%28f%29), Members of the Board will be individuals current District residents from established public, nonprofit, and volunteer community organizations, community leaders, academic institutions, and other individuals who have shown dedication to and knowledge of advancing racial equity or social justice. All efforts will be made to select at least 1 member from each Ward of the District. Appointees may not be employed at a District of Columbia agency, including independent agencies.
