Quality Control Specialist - Mechanical

Position Description The Mechanical Quality Control Specialist is responsible for managing and performing the mechanical daily quality control responsibilities of specific projects to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the contract. Responsibilities - Oversees all Mechanical aspects of the construction project, from planning to implementation. - Provides leadership in Mechanical quality control issues. - Implements, maintains and manages the Mechanical aspects of the Quality Control plan and policies. - Conducts Mechanical quality control inspections, maintains a record of inspections and ensures all reporting is accomplished. - Coordinates with and verifies work of onsite Mechanical personnel and subcontractors. - Reviews all Mechanical submittals, maintains an updated Quality Control Plan onsite and performs the three phases of control on each DFOW (Preparatory, Initial, and Follow-up activities). - Ensures all Mechanical construction is completed per approved drawings and specifications and complies with the scope of work. Defines corrective measures for problem areas. Immediately recommends stoppages to the QCM for any segment of work that is not in compliance with Mechanical plans and specifications and replaces any defective work. - Maintains current as-built Mechanical drawings, showing all deviations made from the contract drawings on a daily/weekly basis. - Manages Mechanical quality control inspections, processes, and all specialty subcontractor inspection entities to ensure all disciplines are in compliance with applicable owner/architect and government specifications, codes, regulations and requirements. Supervises and coordinates any Mechanical inspections or tests made by other members of the quality control organization. - Ensures all Mechanical quality standards established in the contract are met, required testing in the contract is completed, and results are reported. - Certifies that Mechanical material and equipment delivered or installed on-and off-site comply with plans and specifications and report any deficiencies. Identifies any corrective actions to be taken. - Maintains and organizes approved Mechanical product and material submittals. - Supports design-build coordination where applicable. - Continuously expands and updates professional knowledge and hones skills in order to enhance individual and team innovation and productivity. - Performs additional assignments as directed by supervisors or as assumed through personal initiative. Minimum Qualifications - Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Quality Control Manager/Specialist/Superintendent on Federal Installations. - Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance (if required). - Must be able and willing to pass a background check for work on Federal Installations. - A degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, engineering technology, or a related field may be considered beneficial, but field-based mechanical construction experience is required and may not be replaced by a degree alone. - Must have a complete understanding of safety practices and standards –EM385. - Must be familiar with EM 385-1-1, have experience in the areas of hazard identification, safety compliance and sustainability, and be familiar with construction management software. - Experience with ASME B31.1/B31.9/NFPA/project-specific codes. - Must demonstrate good communication and organizational skills required for government and design/build projects and for daily interaction with government construction management staff. - Certification from Construction Quality Management Class. - Knowledge of Mechanical construction materials, methods and techniques. - Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry (including but not limited to: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe or Bluebeam) - Valid driver’s license and all necessary certifications for working on a government base or installation.
