Quality Control Chemist

**Summary:** QC Chemist personnel ensure that profitable, quality product is sold to the marketplace in compliance with the applicable ISO standards by the efficient, reproducible, and accurate analysis of raw materials, intermediate products and final products, and the continuous improvement of the processes supporting this outcome. **Key Duties and Responsibilities:** Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions - Chemical and physical analysis of raw materials, intermediate products, and final products to ensure conformity to standards and specifications with the generation of accurate test records. Tests include, but are not limited to gas chromatography, gel permeation chromatography, HPLC, Wet chemistry, automated and manual titration, Brookfield and U-tube viscosity, FTIR spectroscopy, XRF, pH measurement, tensile and overlap shear force measurement, physical properties testing (hardness, resilience), and UV curing and photoactivity of UV-curable resins/adhesives. - Laboratory instrumentation/equipment upkeep and maintenance, including troubleshooting. - Supporting the continuous improvement in laboratory practices for quality, safety, and environmental health. - Creation and revision of standard operating procedures, study protocols and forms. - Project work including statistical analysis, investigation support, and collaboration with other departments. - Implementing new equipment along with performing or directing equipment qualifications and writing or delegating the writing of validation reports. - Method development projects, the writing of Standard Operating Procedures, Validation Protocols and Reports **Qualifications, Education and/or Experience Required:** - A 4-year degree in chemistry or related field, Masters Preferred, and 3-4 years of experience in a Quality Control Lab or similar chemistry field. Familiarity with analytical testing concepts, practices, and instrumentation/equipment use and maintenance. Proficiency with Microsoft Office required (Excel, Word, Office). - Familiar with data analysis software such as empower, ChemStation, Spectrum **Language Skills:** - English required, bilingual (Spanish) a plus. **Physical Demands:** - Walking, standing for prolonged periods, may frequently lift/move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds, good manual dexterity for proper laboratory techniques. - Respirator (full/half face) required for certain tasks. **Work Environment:** - Chemical Laboratory – exposure to chemicals including, but not limited to: cyanoacrylates and organic solvents. - Must follow all laboratory/company safety procedures, including Lone Worker policy (second shift) and wear proper PPE. **Other Duties:** Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
