PUMPSTATION SUPERINTENDENT

The purpose of the class is to supervise the construction, alteration, maintenance and repair of sanitary sewer lines, lift stations and grinder pumps; to oversee the operations of sewer pump stations and grinder stations for the County; to inspect air release valves and wet wells; and to perform other technical work as required. The class is given a general outline of work to be performed and is free to develop work methods and sequences; work is reviewed by supervisor periodically. **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS** • Oversees the operation and maintenance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system servers, workstations, networks, PC equipment, printers and related equipment including security requirements. • Schedules preventive maintenance work required on wastewater pumping stations and assigns specific tasks. • Supervises assigned crew members. Supervisory duties include instructing; assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; selecting new employees; acting on employee problems; recommending employee discipline; and recommending discharge as appropriate. • Reviews the work of assigned crew members for completeness and accuracy; evaluates and makes recommendations as appropriate; and offers advice and assistance as needed. • Ensures crew members perform all work in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and standards of quality and safety. • Assists and advises crews in the conduct of routine tasks; may plan and direct emergency maintenance activities that involve loss of service or property damage with minimal disruption to the public. • Leads and participates in the work of unskilled and semi-skilled workers and equipment operators using tools and maintenance equipment to service and repair wastewater pump stations. • Orders supplies, materials and equipment. • Performs other related job duties as assigned.**Education and Experience:** High school diploma or GED. Requires at least six (6) years of related work experience. One year of supervisor training preferred. **Special Qualifications:** Must possess a valid state driver’s license and a CDL license.
