**POSITION SUMMARY** The Town of Holly Springs is searching for a Pump Mechanic I/II to serve in the Utilities and Infrastructure department., This position is responsible for performing duties related to the daily operation, preventative maintenance, repairs, and record keeping of all pump stations, ensuring essential services are provided to maintain the upkeep of public infrastructure to provide for public safety, health, and welfare. **SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS** Reports to the Field Supervisor for Pump Maintenance. Work is completed under moderate supervision. Employees may need to occasionally choose from defined alternatives to resolve problems consults with Field Supervisor and Crew Leader on matters not covered by guidelines. The work schedule is business hours with occasional evening, weekends, and on-call rotation. The starting salary range is ***$55,931.14-$59,289.31 (Grades G/H). This position is considered essential during emergencies and inclement weather.*** **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned. 1.Serves as a team member of Pump Station Maintenance Mechanics. 2.Inspects, adjusts, and monitors all components at all pump station sites. 3.Responds to SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) alarms and takes corrective action to rectify the condition. 4.Maintains accurate and thorough records of pump run times, maintenance activities, and station performance. 5.Implements knowledge of safe operation and repairs of pump station components (including but not limited to pumps, soft starters, contactors, impellers, wear plates, grinders, generators, automatic/manual transfer switches). 6.Assists in the troubleshooting of minor electrical problems within equipment control panels. 7.Operates the Combination Vacuum/Jetter truck to clean stations. Maintains certifications to operate the crane truck and forklift to load/unload pumps, parts, and chemicals. 8.Performs preventative maintenance required to keep pump station sites and equipment in good operating condition by cleaning, lubricating, and performing minor repairs. Maintains proper fluid levels in on-site generators. Responsible for on-call duties. 9.Assists in performance testing on pumps (known as draw down tests) to monitor pump station flow capacity. Assist in the adjustment and replacement of pump parts, as needed, in response to data collected. 10.Performs confined space entry using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and procedures, to clean and inspect underground structures. 11.Perform emergency repairs and work as necessary. Including after hours. 12.Other duties as assigned. **KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES** •Knowledge of the principles and practices of wastewater treatment, distribution and collection transmission lines, pumping stations, metering, and other utility systems appurtenances. •Knowledge of the occupational hazards of the work and necessary safety precautions. •Knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance procedures. •Knowledge of computer technology, electrical and mechanical systems as well as plumbing, pneumatics and pressure. •Ability and skill to drive and operate mobile equipment in a safe and proper manner. •Knowledge of operation and maintenance of assigned equipment and machinery. •Knowledge of utility markings and clearances and rules for safe equipment operation in close proximity to underground and overhead utility facilities. •Knowledge of construction industry safety rules and ability to utilize all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) necessary. •Knowledge of legal load limits for assigned equipment and vehicles. •Ability to operate assigned machinery and equipment skillfully and safely near vehicular traffic, grade and alignment stakes, slopes, trucks…
