PUBLIC WORKS INSPECTOR II

The City of Newport Beach seeks a motivated individual to join the [Public Works](https://www.newportbeachca.gov/government/departments/public-works)[Department](https://www.newportbeachca.gov/government/departments/public-works)as a Public Works Inspector II. Currently there is one full-time vacancy in the Public Works Department. This position will inspect workmanship and materials used in a variety of Capital Improvement Projects, ensure conformance with plans, specifications and department regulations; coordinate with contractors, other City Departments, and local agencies; work with engineers and contractors to solve problems, inspect traffic control according to the WATCH manual and approved traffic control plans, maintain records and prepare reports pertaining to projects. **Selection Components:** - **Application Evaluation:** The position will remain open until **July 20, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.** Those candidates deemed most qualified as reflected in their online application will be invited to an interview. A combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: **Experience:** Two years of increasingly responsible experience performing a variety of construction inspection work. Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in mathematics, civil engineering, or a related field. License/Certificate: Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required. **Please Note:** Candidates deemed most qualified, as reflected in their application materials, will be invited to continue in the recruitment process.
