Under general supervision, provide direct patient care and case management in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and procedures. Educates the public on health practices that promote wellness and the prevention of illness, injury and disability. Cares for population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols. Some services may be provided in various settings including clinics, homes or in the community as deemed appropriate. **Primary Duties & Responsibilities** - Demonstrates knowledge of and exercises good judgment in the execution of patient care protocols. - Orders appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments and administers medications and vaccines in accordance with protocol. - Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic testing and interprets the results to direct treatment. - Provides patient education and makes appropriate referrals. - Facilitates patient decision making by providing health education, counseling, and tools - Provides thorough documentation of medical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referrals, education, and consultations in the electronic medical record system. - Performs women’s wellness services, contraceptive counseling, and contraceptives according to protocol. - Is knowledgeable about and enrolls patients in the breast and cervical cancer program (BCCP). - Provides assessment, screening, and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases according to protocol. - Administers tuberculosis testing, interprets results, and works with the TB Program Coordinator to support follow-up and treatment. - Provides child health, vision screening, and supports the provision of other primary care services on an as needed basis. - Performs onsite waived lab testing offered by the HD, performs wet preps, and participates in lab QA/QI. - Is knowledgeable about and provides referrals to programs and services available within the Department of Pub…
