At Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA), we are looking for customer service-centered, safety-minded individuals to join our team of dedicated Public Bus Drivers - No two days are ever the same and each day matters! **What you'll be doing** - Complete basic safety and maintenance inspections to keep your vehicle in tip-top shape, maintaining safety for you and your passengers! - Demonstrate top notch customer service to both Grand Traverse and Leelanau County communities. - Navigate onboard technology and communication equipment with confidence and efficiency. - Safely operate company vehicles, complying with DOT, State and BATA policies. - Maintain comprehensive knowledge of transportation resources, service geography and road conditions. - Efficiently communicating with operations, mechanics, dispatchers and fellow drivers to maintain high levels of service. ## Requirements **You'll succeed in this role if you:** - Must have a valid driver's license and are able to maintain a CDL class B with passenger and airbrake endorsement (**BATA offers PAID CDL Training**) - Are able to maintain a qualifying medical card - Have a high school diploma or equivalent - Take pride in having a clean and professional appearance - Willing to learn and use computers and new technology - Communicate clearly and courteously - Your passengers and co-workers will appreciate it! - Can stay cool under pressure and adapt to changing conditions. - Can visually track routes, locations, and the big picture of what's happening on the road - Can willing perform the duties of the job including assisting passengers and operating mobility equipment **Physical & Work Environment** This is an active, hands-on role. You'll spend long periods seated, step on and off various company owned vehicles, assist passengers, operate electric lifts, and occasionally lift up to 40lbs. You'll also experience weather in all seasons - sun, snow, rain and every variation between!
