This role is responsible for the financial accounting and reporting of a portfolio of commercial real estate entities while working closely with property management, operations, and executive leadership. Position Summary The Property Accountant will oversee the full-cycle accounting process for multiple commercial real estate entities, including general ledger accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, accounts payable, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a deadline-driven environment. Essential Responsibilities - Manage full-cycle accounting for assigned commercial real estate entities. - Prepare and post journal entries. - Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations. - Prepare accurate monthly financial statements. - Process accounts payable, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing. - Maintain general ledger accuracy and integrity. - Record accruals, prepaids, amortizations, and allocations. - Prepare supporting schedules and variance analyses. - Assist with month-end and year-end close processes. - Support audits, tax preparation, and financial reporting requests. - Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation. - Partner with property management and operations regarding financial matters. - Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. - 3+ years of accounting experience required. - Property accounting or commercial real estate accounting experience strongly preferred. - Strong understanding of: - General Ledger Accounting - Financial Statement Preparation - Bank Reconciliations - Accounts Payable - Month-End Close - Experience with accounting software/ERP systems. - Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. - Excellent organizational and time management skills. - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines simultaneously.
