Production Worker

**PRODUCTION WORKER – JTI Liggett, Mebane, NC** **Role overview** In this role, you will support the production operation by maintaining required output and product quality standards, while working in a safe manner. You may be required to operate machinery (including makers, packers and/or case packers), perform basic machine adjustments, stock consumables, load/unload materials, feed tobacco, prepare pallets, perform quality control tasks, and keep equipment and the surrounding area clean, etc. You may be required to drive a forklift/operate a pallet jack. You may also be required to assist with minor preventive maintenance activities and support creation of equipment standards. **Key responsibilities** - Operate complex machinery; Support the operation of complex machinery by feeding materials and packaging products according to JTI Liggett quality standards at the lowest possible cost; take ownership of basic manual operations (loading/unloading filters, palletizing, tobacco feeding, etc.) as applicable - Execute timely cleaning and basic machine adjustments according to JTI standards; accurately report waste, machine downtime, breakdowns, material usage as applicable - Replenish consumables/materials by using the right materials per product specifications, checking materials at the start of each shift and at any changeover - Operate forklift, pallet jack, etc. - Ensure quality and support continuous improvement by identifying errors/faults that could impact quality or machine function, escalating when needed, supporting visual quality checks, sorting rejected products and waste materials, supporting continuous improvement efforts and companywide initiatives - Follow safety requirements by adhering to occupational safety regulations, identifying and reporting hazards/near misses/incidents, demonstrating safe behavior, and sharing safety information during shift handover - Support other tasks and projects as they arise and upon the manager’s request **Requirements:** - Flexibility to work any shift (first, second or third) - Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role in a high-speed manufacturing environment (will consider combination of education and experience) - Fluency in English (written and oral), and effective communication skills - Basic PC skills (MS Office applications) - Ability to lift regularly throughout the shift (with or without assistance) - Ability to push, pull, bend, reach, twist, climb ladders, etc. - Visual acuity to identify product quality *Applicants must be at least 21 years old, and have a high school diploma or equivalent* JTI Liggett strives to create a diverse and inclusive work environment.
