About the Product Manager role

Product Manager positions focus on delivering results in their domain. This page aggregates open Product Manager roles and what employers typically expect.

Who we are Our mission is to bring clarity and control to the world's most complex codebases. AI is accelerating code creation, but the infrastructure to understand, oversee, and evolve that code hasn't kept pace. Sourcegraph gives engineering organizations full visibility across their systems, precise context for their agents, and the ability to execute coordinated code changes at scale. As agentic development becomes the dominant engineering paradigm, we provide the context layer teams need to take control of their codebase. With Code Search, Deep Search, MCP, and Agentic Batch Changes, we deliver on that mission today - giving engineering teams and their AI tools the cross-repo context to navigate massive codebases with confidence, and the ability to make changes across hundreds of repositories at once. Companies like Stripe, Reddit, and Leidos rely on Sourcegraph to ship faster and with higher quality. We're backed by a16z, Sequoia, and Redpoint, and proud to operate as a globally distributed team that values high agency, direct communication, and customer love. If you want to build the infrastructure that lets every engineering team - and every agent they deploy - operate on their codebase with confidence, join us. Hours & location 🌎 While we hire almost anywhere in the world, we have a preference for someone to reside in the following locations for this role. However, if you feel qualified, we welcome you to apply regardless of location. No matter what, working hours must overlap with EST for at least 20 hours/week. Preferred locations: EST Europe Why this job is exciting We are looking for a deeply technical, pragmatic Product Manager to help shape and deliver products for developers and the AI agents working alongside them. This will initially be the primary Product Manager supporting a small, fast-moving engineering organization. Rather than being embedded within a single team, you will work across several engineering teams to identify priorities, organize customer and product feedback, define requirements, guide products through the experimental, beta, and general availability lifecycle, and enable our Marketing and Go-To-Market teams to bring it to the world . You will spend significant time working directly with customers, engineering leaders, and developers to understand their needs and translate them into clear product decisions. You will need enough technical depth to discuss implementation tradeoffs, evaluate developer workflows, and represent the product when an engineer is not in the room. You will also need the ability to crisply communicate with non-developers, internal and external, about the value that Sourcegraph delivers. This is an opportunity to have an outsized impact within a small organization operating much like a startup, while benefiting from Sourcegraph’s enterprise distribution and access to customers with some of the largest and most complex codebases in the world. 📅 Within one month, you will… Ramp up on Sourcegraph’s products, customers, technical architecture, go-to-market pitch, and product strategy. Build strong working relationships with engineering leaders and the teams you will support. Join customer conversations and develop an understanding of their workflows, pain points, and priorities. Review and begin organizing existing customer feedback, product ideas, and active experiments. 📅 Within three months, you will… Establish a clear process for gathering, organizing, and prioritizing product feedback across teams. Translate customer problems into clear product requirements, specifications, and success criteria. Help teams make pragmatic prioritization decisions across customer requests, product investments, and technical work including market research and competitive analysis. Support the product lifecycle of experimental and beta features, including customer discovery, iteration, launch planning, and measurement. Provide greater clarity beyond engineering on what we are building…
