Our 115,000 colleagues serve people in more than 160 countries. ## **JOB DESCRIPTION:** **The Opportunity:** This Product Engineer will work out of our Alameda, CA or Milpitas, CA location in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division, where we are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology. This technical specialist needs comprehensive knowledge in electrical engineering, manufacturing processes, and/or software development. Help drive the design and manufacture of continuous glucose monitors and bio wearable sensors and systems. **What you will do:** - Develop electrical and product requirements, design specifications, test specifications, acceptance criteria, and limits. - Provide technical guidance to external suppliers and third-party manufacturers. - Ensure that electrical design and test equipment meet applicable industry standards and regulations. - Assist with bring-up and validation of new SMT, plastics assembly, and packaging manufacturing lines. - Develop firmware and software tools for hardware verification of advanced features. - Design and verify systems used for biosensor manufacture and test. - Represent operations and R&D in cross-functional teams - Write and submit Engineering Change Orders into our product life cycle documentation system **Required Qualifications:** - BS or higher in electrical engineering, computer science, industrial engineering or a related field - At least 4 years of experience in: software development, electrical design and testing and electrical or process verification and validation. Medical device experience preferred. **Preferred Skills/Experience:** - Application software development with C#, Python, C++ or a similar language - Embedded software development with C - Experience troubleshooting embedded systems and/or manufacturing processes - Electrical design experience or familiarity – should be able to understand electrical schematics and review printed-circuit board layouts - Familiarity with electrical lab equipment and testing – digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc. - Familiarity with wired and wireless communication protocols, e.g.: UART, SPI, NFC, Bluetooth - Familiarity with statistical process analysis - Experience in a regulated environment preferred (e.g.: ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820, IEC 62304) - Familiarity with writing requirements, design verification, and validation - Written and verbal communication skills **The base pay for this position is** $114,000.00 – $228,000.00 In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted. ## **JOB FAMILY:** Engineering ## **DIVISION:** ADC Diabetes Care ## **LOCATION:** United States > Alameda : 1360-1380 South Loop Road ## **ADDITIONAL LOCATIONS:** United States > Milpitas : 1820 McCarthy Blvd ## **WORK SHIFT:** Standard ## **TRAVEL:** Yes, 5 % of the Time ## **MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE:** Not Applicable ## **SIGNIFICANT WORK ACTIVITIES:** Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day) Abbott is an Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities/Women/Individuals with Disabilities/Protected Veterans.
