This is a **promotional opportunity** for current LA Department of Corrections employees who have permanent status and are ready to advance in their career. This position is responsible for the administration of Region 1 within the Division of Probation and Parole. Region 1 includes six district offices which delivers probation and parole supervision and investigative services at the parish level. Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the supervisory level or above in probation or parole: Five years of experience as a probation or parole officer, or in counseling, psychology, social work, education, criminal justice, or administrative services plus one of the following: 1. Three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement 2. Three years of continuous active military duty (all Military Occupational Specialties apply) 3. Six years of full-time experience in any field 4. A bachelor's degree OR Four years of experience as a probation or parole officer, or in counseling, psychology, social work, education, criminal justice, or administrative services plus a master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, education, business administration, public administration, or a criminal justice field. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license. This position requires the incumbent to handle and carry firearms. Responsible for all aspects of personnel management with a region: reviewing and concurring on hiring within the districts, selecting personnel for promotions to the District Manager position subject to the review and approval of superiors, disciplinary actions, conducting disciplinary and grievance hearings and internal affairs investigations, training and staff development. - Assists the Probation and parole Director in the formulation of division policies and procedures, in all areas of planning, program implementation, achievement of objectives, disseminates and interprets policies, procedures, court decisions and legislation affecting division activities. Administers special projects as delegated by the Director. May serve as Acting Director in the absence of the Director and Deputy Director. - Conducts a variety of reviews and audits to ensure that all supervision, investigative and personnel management activities are consistent with applicable regulations and laws including review of large fiscal accounts comprised of victim’s restitution, supervision fees and other criminal justice…
